Full stabilization of the crude oil on board 1

On the oil platform, oil will be stabilized to reduce acid gases and dehydrated to a target water content to be export to onshore. The sulfur content and hydrogen sulfide may be limited also. The oil may be partially stablized or fully stabilized.

Appreciate if anyone can tell me what are the criterias of full stabilization and what are partial stabilization?

There is no specific quality of the crude that you should produce but the quality of the crude will affect the transportability and price.

Here are some typical specification ranges:

Vapor pressure: 5 to 14 psia (Reid vapour pressure)
H2S content: 10-100 ppmw
Basic sediment and water content: .2 to 3 %
Salt concentration: 10-25 pounds per 1000 bbl.

Thanks a lot. I am investigating how to decide the export oil is corrosive or non-corrosive. I was told that fully stablized oil are non-corrosive. Is that true?

What I have is:

BS&W: 0.5% target with 1.0% maximum
Sulfur content: less than 1.1% by weight
Reid Vapor Pressure (RVP): 8.6 psia
Salt: < 200 lb / thousand bbl
Hydrogen Sulfide: < 15 PPM

Any suggestion?

I am not a corosion specialist but with the amount of S content you have in the crude, its difinately going to be very corrosive at high operating temp.

The other thing you might want to check is the TAN (Total acid number). The TAN # is determined by ASTM D664 Standard titration test and is reported in mg KOG/g which is required to neutralize the acidity of one gram of oil sample.

If you know the TAN #, the operating temp and the material used, I can look up in our chart to give you an ideal of the corrosion rates.
