Fully coloured in view

Hi guys... I am looking to do a drawing with fully coloured-in bodies in NX6. I have looked and can't find the exact thing I'm looking for. I have a plan, a section and an iso. Please help... at the moment we export to Microstation and colour in 2D, which itself is a nightmare!

If you have already placed the view on the drawing, go to Style -> Shading and change the rendering style from wireframe to fully shaded.

Once you have your drawing created, select all of the views, press MB3, select 'Style', select the tab labeled 'Shading', change the Rendering Style from 'Wireframe' to 'Fully Shaded' and hit OK.

Hi cowski, thanks for that. Looks alright on the screen but when I print, it comes out with the wireframe underneath, as per attachment? The pdf is the same. Any ideas how to improve this image quality?

Try changing your hidden line linefont to 'invisible'.

Hi guys, thanks for your help. The hidden line setting was already set to invisible? Any other ideas... the clocks ticking haha. I would of thought that it is totally possible to do...

I tested before I posted and it worked for me, there must be another setting getting in the way.

Sorry John, I had replied to cowski before I seen your post, but is it not the same thing? As I said it looks alright on the UG screen but not when I print or create pdf. Could it be a plot setting?

It works fine for me, at least when I tested the File -> Export -> PDF and the File -> Print functions. However, you do have to make sure that in the Settings section of the dialogs that the 'Export Shaded Geometry as Wireframe' option is toggled OFF.

Hi guys, it looks like I may not be able to do this. We use a document handling system which allows us to 'publish' approved dwgs to our intranet. I do not have the option of File - Export - PDF... I can only Plot to adobe, which I'm assuming is not the same thing. When I open NX6 on it's own, it has different settings and the Export PDF option is there... I tested a simple plot and it looked good shaded in. I'm going to have to speak to a CAD / IT guy and see why this option was removed. I take it there's no ther way to export a pdf. The quality appeared much better.

Hello again, managed to find the shortcut and added to toolbar allowing me to export pdf. Quality much better but still have lines underneath.
Pretty sure I've got all the settings same as you guys???

Are you trying to get these images from a modeling view (modeling application) or a view placed on a drawing sheet (drafting application)? I ask because it may affect the strategy to use. Your original question mentions drafting views, but in your screenshot there appears to be a component selected, which would suggest to me you are in a modeling view.

Hi cowski, no... it's a drafting application. The screenshot is from one of the iso views. Had a wee play about with it... but can't get rid of these lines underneath. It is obviously an assembly.

Hi guys back from holiday... has this died a deatht then?... hope I haven't stumped you's haha. Starting to frustate me now. Looks fine on UG when when I print or create pdf I get hidden lines!!! Is there any other option within the View-Style dialog box which would affect this. I have the same settings as cowski's screenshot.

We had some issues when we changed to "PDF ExChange" from whatever PDF thing we had before that. I can't tell you anything else other than that, because I really wasn't involved with the change.
So my suggestion would be to check explore the settings in "PDF" to see if there is something that may be causing this.
