Fuse Terminals for Classified Area 1

To all-

I am adding 4 - 24VDC power supplies (Pheonix QUINT) to an existing NEMA 4X non-purged enclosure that exists within a Class 1 Div 2 Groups B&D environment. I am putting a non-arcing (rated) DIN rail mounted disconnect on the 120VAC primary side.

The QUINT has internal 5A protection, and does not REQUIRE additional protection. However, since the internal 5A is not user-replaceable I thought an external fuse would be good for operations. This is where I am having trouble!!!

Have any of you been able to find a Class 1 Div 2 Grp B&D fused terminal? I am having no luck. Weidmuller has a "new" item WSI 4/2, but it is rated in Canada only and their tech support did not recommend it be used for my application. Entrelec does not have anything that I found either and they are the preferred brand for my facility.

How have some of you handled this?
Why do you think it is such a problem to make one?

I can see it being an issue because if somebody pulls the fuse while the circuit is live they can arc at the connector.

I suggest you look for a PTC (positive temperature coefficient) type fuse. Bourns has some components that are recognized by TUV, so someone might have designed these into a block rated for Class 1 Div 2 environment.

According to NEC 501.115(B)(1) fuses in a Class 1 Division 2 must be installed in an explosionproof enclosure. The NEC does not make any provisions for fuses identified for Class 1 Division 2 locations. That's probably why you won't find it in any equipment catalog. However, if you find any fuses and associated equipment identified for Class 1 Division 1 then you might be able to install this in a Class 1 Division 2 location. The code makes provisions for this type of equipment but does not forbid it's use in Class 1 Division 2 locations.
