ITER is in trouble, overbudget and running very late. 300% and 10 years respectively


The actual budget is peanuts, about the cost of 1 GW of reliable renewable power, so if it can help set the parameters for a usable generator that's money well spent. But that's a big if.

really ? are you surprised ?? It's a prototype, so no one knows the problems it'll see. The budgets and schedules are the earliest wish list ... the biggest numbers the project thinks it can get away with, and then blow them once all that money is sunk !

This is "Big Power"'s response to building a fusion nuke. One positive outcome are all the little start ups all of whom can say "we're cheaper than ITER" and are trying different approaches.
