Great... now to survive the next two decades.

Fusion is always thirty twenty years away. Good stuff. In the short term if you want some coal for the powerstation they are talking about closing down you know who to call.

Greg, when the last deep mine closed, the UK had an estimated 300 years worth underground. I guess it's still there...

Politicians like to panic, they need activity. It is their substitute for achievement.

...and hopefully it will stay there.

They'll be selling it to China to pay for their own clean energy if things keep going the way they are.

If China can use them, too... why not. Clean non-fossil fuel energy is needed badly. I suspect China would jump at that opportunity, if for no other reason than to build them, themselves.

Somebody has to pay for this. That money is going to come from fossil fuels. If you think we might not survive the next 20 years, ramping up fossil fuels to support fusion isn't going to help.

Some think "20 years away" = never :)

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

I was hoping I would be buying a red Corvette in 20 years. I'm starting to think that won't happen. I also don't think climate change is going to be what prevents that from happening.

Even if climate change were the problem, Corvettes are made mostly from fiberglass so the transition to amphibious should be straightforward.
