Dear All, Hoping you can pass some advise, I am needing at clients request to have a G48 test done on a UNS S31050 Casting but unsure what temperature this should be carried out at, Before I discuss with the engineer I would like to have some ideas of any standard testing temps.

Many thanks

Dear G48testing.
I suggest to have a look at section 5.2.1 and 5.2.2 of the ASTM G48 standard.

Do they have a record of doing this to castings?
This test is very sensitive to surface condition, so doing this on castings will be very problematic.
For this to be realistic you need to use the actual service condition surfaces.

Does you customer want you to determine the critical pitting temperature or do they have a test that they want it to pass? These are very different.

With this alloy you will be at room temp or just slightly above.
