Galvanized steel girder in Bridges

Is there any other checks besides regular design guidelines that AASHTO provides for steel girder, if the girder is galvanized?

None that I'm aware of.

Sure. Check to make sure there is a galvanizing tank big enough to fit your girder, preferably without double-dipping. Might also check their lifting capacity.

I agree with TomDOT. There is no point in sending an 80 foot girder to a galvanizing facility hundreds of miles away only to learn they have a 50 foot bath. Most times the girders can be dipped forwards and backwards to get coverage but not always. Also this increases costs over the shipping to and from the galvanizing plant. The girders usually cannot be shipped from the galvanizing facility but have to go back to fab shop. This is one of the reasons galvanizing is costly and not done routinely. There are certainly other reasons.
