Hi, all. We are making the switch to DesignModeler. I have taken an on-line ANSYS course to help with this transition, but unfortunately there was not much time spent on constructing new geometries and I find myself challenged to do simple things. Instead of feeding these questions through their tech support I was hoping to get some quick and helpful insight here. For example...
I'm trying to make an elliptical head on the bottom of a tank. I can use a primitive shape to create the main part of the tank (cyllinder), but drawing the elliptical solid is driving me nuts. I have tried creating a 2D sketch and then revolving it, but this is not working. I am unable to "cut" the ellipse in half and rotate 360 degrees. I can sketch the full ellipse, but when trying to rotate 180 degrees I get an error. Instead of using the "ellipse" sketch tool, I have tried to freehand one side of the ellipse to revolve it, but I cannot get the spline to work.
Am I going about this the wrong way? How would you draw a solid ellipse in DesignModeler? A helical coil?
Thank you for answering what I know is a simple question -- but it is driving me nuts considering I could do this in 2 seconds using GAMBIT. Back to the grind...
