Gas / glycol temperature control

For a TEG unit in an on-shore location with limited cooling water what would be the preferred solution for a large scale (450,000 Nm3/hr gas) TEG column for lean glycol temperature adjustment downstream the glycol/glycol HX:

-Adjust glycol temperature before contactor by use of exit gas
- Adjust glycol temperature by use of air cooling/closed loop water cooling

In reality the glycol temperature feeding the contactor does not make a difference. The mass flow of the gas is so much higher than the mass flow of the glycol. Once the glycol hits the tower it will immediately reach the temperature of the gas at the top of the tower.
 
Actually the reason for cooling the Gas to within 5 to 10 degrees of the inlet gas before putting it in is usually put down to preventing foaming and high TEG losses. Not sure wether this is a myth or not but nearly all the dehydration units I worked on had a cooler.

If you use a gas TEG exchanger on the outlet that works fine, used to be pretty much a standard.

I wouldnt use an air cooler lot of extra kit to go wrong, personally I prefer to keep it simple.
