Gas turbine HRSG 1

Hi all,
I am new in the oil nad gas industry. Recently i have been employed as a projects engineer to design a HRSG for a gas turbine in a refinery which is so new to me. Where should i start? Can some one help with some write up on the design to execution of this project?. thanks in advance

Here is some simple advice, subcontract an Engineering firm that specializes in Power Generation projects that can help you develop a request for proposal (RFP) for the HRSG based on necessary input and output of process conditions. You as the Project Engineer manage the necessary interfaces between the Engineering firm and designers/suppliers of HRSG's. You cannot do this entire project on your own.

As always, metengr is right. This sounds like a project where mistakes can be very costly and experience is very important.

As a project engineer you were "assigned to design the HRSG..?"

Does the gas turbine exist and if so what size is it ?

Will you require a steam turbine also ?

The gas turbine doesnt exist and no one seems to know how to go about it. They have just put the whole HRSG problem on me to come up with the specs for the HRSG.They have also asked acompanies to come up with proposals in the newspapers. My major problem now is to come up with the best HRSG for the projects.

metengr has given you a 100% correct advice. I suggest you take it. Don't put yourself in the position to "engineer" the HRSG, you're not qualify to from the sound of it. One of the key thing to know as a Project Engineer is that you are not there to "design" or "engineer", you are there to provide leadership to other design people to focus the activity and get them to communicate. You don't have to know all the technical details, you just have to gather the experts together and focus them to focus on activities to complete the goal. Hence, you should ask your project manager to hire an engineering company, or qualify staff, to do this work.
