Gasket selection for Flanged connection

Hi,

I am dealing with the design of a flanged connection which will be subjected to high external pressure & temp. Flanges are used to connect two 6" long pipes (sealed on both ends) & this pipe will be subjected to external pressure only along with a temperature of 300F.

Since I am new to the area of gasket design or selection, can anyone suggest references? What kind of gasket material would be best suited for this application?

vtmike, recommend contacting an applications engineer at Garlock, Flexitallic or any of the majors. That's what they are there for.
