Any material out on the web that gives a description on what materal gears should be made of for diffrent applications.
What I would like to know is the advantages of Staniless steel over Aluminum and Brass. I know the cost, wear and load is much greater but are there other advantages, like more less noise, less vibration, less backlash due to time and wear?

Thanks..

Hi,

you might take in consideration to use and use PA12 or PA46 (not yet in KISSSoft database.
In order to reduce the backlash you might need to split one helical gear in two gears with springs in between such that both flanks of one tooth are in touch with two flanks of the opposite gear. Obviously it depends upon speed and load whether you need PEEK.

My response is rather late and I apologize for it.

May I recommend to read Geartechnology.com and powertransmission.com either on-line or downloaded.
