Good evening folks
I'm a ProE beginner running WF4 and trying to learn how to model gears accurately. I've trawled the web and have found the link below, which seems to give me 2 options on how to create the involute curve on the tooth. Unfortunately I'm not at the level yet where I can clearly understand what is required, plus the doc is from 1999 and refers to an earlier version of ProE than WF4, so the instructions are hard for me to relate to my version. I've been tinkering all afternoon, but can't quite nail either option and get them to function.
Would anyone be so kind as to 'translate' some of this for me please or maybe give me some simpler pointers on how to follow this and relate it to WF4?
On the mathematical model, I don't know what the 'relations' section is all about. I've tried placing that formula into the equation of a datum curve, but I couldn't get it run so gave up and tried the graphical version. On that one, I think I managed the datum circles OK, by using the default equation to create those, and I also think I managed the parameter bit ("I think" being not very confident) but then the tooth definition section has me beat I'm afraid. It also doesn't help that Fig2 is almost unreadable to me, so the references to that are also unclear to me.
Thanks in advance and here's the link
