The gears are new and are carburized. I am unsure what would cause this unusual surface effect? the gear in question is on the left. Thanks

Jan 12, 2022 #2 TugboatEng Marine/Ocean Nov 1, 2015 11,388 1 38 US I don't see anything unusual. The wavy pattern is polishing of the high spots but I see no corrective pitting or unusual wear. As the gear wears in you'll likely see the surface polish become more even. Upvote 0 Downvote
