Hi to all,

Brand new to this so hope i'm getting it right...

I've recently started a new job at a firm who conduct HV Switchgear services, maintainence, testing commissioning etc. I require some old style test blocks for GEC Alsthom electromechanical relays that I have never worked with before. I'm 22 and my experience with protective relays is restricted to the new Areva Micom's, GE Industrial range SR750's etc, Siemens Siprotecs etc. not the old stuff. I've been in contact with Areva T&D who sent me a quote for the "MPB_FJ0370_001 - 10 Contact Test Plug" I require but they're £525.00 each plus a pretty big lead time. I've attatched the quote.

After all that, my question is does anybody know of somewhere i could buy some second hand test blocks or would anybody be willing to do an ebay sale of any blocks they no longer want.

I hope i haven't abused this forum in any way and if i have accept my opologies.

Best regards,

Kyle.

Not sure I'd have posted that document for all to see, but I agree that Areva's delivery dates are comically long, especially for stock items. They have been that way for a few years now.

Is it a test block for the older MMLG series you are looking for? I drew a blank on the part number you listed.

I think the MPB is what a lot of people call a "mouth organ".

It is for CDG and other electromechanical relays that use the same case.

They slot in between the sliding terminals at the bottom of the relay.

They are expensive, but if you are going to be testing older relays it is a worthwile investment.

The test plug for the MMLG test blocks is called an MMLB - you may find you need one of them at some stage too.

Thanks Ohmly - I know exactly which plugs you are describing now.

Thanks Scotty UK for trting to help, as mentioned by Ohmly it is called a mouthorgan (Only just discovered that myself) and yes your right posting that invoice was naive. Again if anybody hears of anyone selling any it would be appreciated. Thanks
Kyle
