Has anyone tried Geforce Fx5200 for CATIA?
Which commercial gaming card will you suggest if you are going to buy it. The reason for gaming card is $$$$

Recommended for you

I have tried with GF2, GF3 and GF4 but not GF FX. They all run without problem until your model get´s heavy or you build assemblies.

I would strongly recommend the ATI Fire GL 8800 that´s very fine card for reasonably money

If you are going for a gaming card I would suggest GF4-4800 or Ati Radeon 9700 (haven´t tried the Radeon but I hear that the openGL support is alright)

I strongly suggest the Matrox Parhelia, which is certified for CATIA and has both the best 2D and multimonitor support.

Azrael, it seems to me you have quite some experience about using gaming cards for CAD purposes.

I plan to buy very soon a GF4-TI4800 (150euros here in Paris) and use it with CatiaV5R10. Did it work fine for you? Did you use the Softquadro tuning, and if so, was it difficult?

I guess using a gaming card for CAD takes some time to tweak it, so I you have a few tips, I would save me from reinventing the wheel!

Thanks in advance!

My home computer running Windows XP Professional which uses a GeForce4 Ti4200 AGP 8X with the standard nVidia Detonator 44.03 drivers runs V5R11 with no problems.
I have not created very complex models with V5R11 yet so I cannot comment on performance with complex models.

I use SoftQuadro4 with my GF4 ti4200 card and I notice a huge improvement over the non-modified drivers. SoftQuadro4 is one thing I can recommend you who don´t use it.
