Can you provide some details about your unit and controls? A 2301A and a DSLC2 sounds like a recent retrofit. is that the case? Is this a problem with a new or recently changed unit, or a new problem on an existing unit? Since you have a DSLC2 I'm guessing you are paralleled to something else, correct? What?

Maybe you can address the questions above and add some more details of your unit and system, then you can likely get better answers.

I have had generators hunting from:
Sticktion in the actuator.
Bad AVR.
Fuel starvation.
Improperly adjusted stability adjustment on the AVR.

I've had a generator hunt while starting large motors with soft starters. The solution was to lower the governor gain setting on the generator controller.
