Hello Gents!

Thanks for all of your help on many other topics!

Next question:
I am looking at novel ways to incorporate rotation onto a shaft using water under pressure.

I have been interested in designing a gerotor motor that is energised by water at about 16MPa and with as little flow as possible. I have a maximum flow rate from the supply of about 65l/min. I however need some of this flow for other purposes.

This product will be used in the mining environment so there will be a little dirt in the water supply.

What is the best way to generate rotation at speeds of about 180rpm with high torque?

I found this program that has helped me to design a gerotor pump, I will reverse the flow to use it as a motor:

Your input would be greatly appreciated!

I have found that the torque requirement is rather high at 15kNm. A gerotor will not be viable for this as it will have to be too big.

Any other suggestions?

I have looked at radial piston motors too. For that torque we would need a big unit. The whole device has to weigh less than 22kg...

Then consider a high speed gerotor or other gear motor through a gear reduction of some sort.

Still will be large package to generate and handle the power.

This rules out quite a few types of motors as the dirt will cause rapid wear. You need to look at something that does not rely on sealing, a water turbine would probably be your best bet.
