Hello everyone,

For the pre-engineering building, When we calculate the girt's deflection under the wind load,(cold formed steel and clading system) which should we use to check the deflection, L/360 or L/180?

Thank you very much!

Best regards,

Tom

If the girt gives lateral support to steel wall panels only, L/120 is acceptable.

If the girt gives lateral support to CMU, I would use L/360.

If you're designing the MBS, you should look in the building specifications and contract documents first, then the MBMA Manual, if you're in the US.
