Good books on engineering statistics?

So, one of my biggest regrets with my engineering education is that I took the minimum statistics required to graduate, and the class was pretty much a joke.

Now that I've been in industry for a while, I've run into my lack of statistical knowledge more than once. Was hoping that someone had a recommendation for a good survey of statistics with a particular focus on engineering.

Any thoughts?

Do you want a book or do you want a MOOC? The advantage of a MOOC is that it'll drop you into some programming environment using R or Python or Matlab. Of the 3 I'd recommend R for stats as it has robust handling of large poor quality datasets but I can't say I like using it much. If you have Minitab available that is quite nice to use.

So far as books go, bear in mind that most stats is an endless series of refinements of ancient maths based on the rather dodgy assumption that your data is normally distributed, or can be transformed in the x axis to become normally distributed. Therefore a good graphical understanding of what you are trying to achieve is more helpful in the real world than understanding some super complex algorithm.

I can't find my stats textbook, but I use it as a reference rather than learning from it anyway.

Yeah, have Minitab available, and have learned a lot from their excellent help files.

Open to other formats, but I'd like a good hard-copy book to use as a reference. If I'm being honest with myself, the chances of me actually taking the time to read a book on statistics cover to cover are slim.
