Hi,
I was wondering how the radio works in a GPS base rover kit...If I did not have a radio then theoretically, if I run a RS232 cable from the Base to the Rover unit then the rover should get a RTK fix. Is this right? Is this all that the radio does or does it do some change in protocol etc.?

Well, actually I tried to run a serial cable but I did not get a fix. Is there something wrong in my assumption?

Thanks

Sabrina

Unclear what you are trying to do. As far as I know, the rover must get its own position fix from GPS. The base merely sends a differential DGPS correction to the rover so that the rover can then correct its position relative to the base.

Hi IRstuff,
My question is regarding the function of the radio transmitter in the base and the receiver in the rover. Since it is only for transferring differential DGPS correction from the base to the rover, will the rover get a fix if I run a rs232 cable from the base to the rover for testing purpose.

Assuming that it's set up for that, I would think so.
