Gray sketches in 3D View 1

I can't figure it out. I've been looking for a while now.

When in 3D view on some of my parts, I see gray sketches of one or more features overlaid. Sure, you can turn it off with View, Sketches, but I want to know what this means.

I used to think it was because they were not fully defined, but these are, for sure (and SolidWorks knows, because the "fully define sketch" feature is grayed out and it reports that the sketch IS fully defined).

This is driving me crazy. Again, I can turn off the sketches, but I wonder if this is something important.

Video card and driver?
SolidWorks version and SP level?
Operating System?
Other system specs?

Most graphics anomalies are caused by using unsuitable video card and/or driver for SW.

Or it could be that some of your sketches are set to Show.

WOOOOW.

That's all it was. It was set to 'Show'. I know I was trying to do this to get the sketch visible, but obviously didn't know what I was doing. I didn't know it was a "show globally" as much as it was "don't make it invisible!".

That completely explains how I was able sometimes to reference geometry on other sketches (like centerlines) and other times had to re-make the exact same centerline.
