Dear all,
Is it possible to obtain grid point force summation about a perticular node in local coordinate so as to get all the six quantities (3 forces & 3 moments),so that any perticular section can be checked for strength using classical methods.I tried in PAtran & got all zeros similar to GPFORCE balanace.
Thanks in advance.

Have you tried the freebody tool in Patran? Within in it, there is an option called "interface". You select the nodes and the elements at the particular cut. You also provide the summation point.

The classic example is to take a cut on a wing and get the resulting forces and moments.

Sorry ESPcomposites for the late repley.. net was down..
thanks for your suggestion.I tried with freebody tool and it really worked fine.As you have said we can also provide a summation point. Like i was trying for a T-sec & summation point can be the CG of the section.
thanks again
with regards,
shearlag
