Hi All,
I'm looking at a high subsonic system with a ramped flush mounted air intake. I've managed to get something with acceptable pressure and mass flow recoveries but now the customer wants to fit a grill over it (in line with the outer mould line). I know from experience that this is not on but I cannot find any engineering references which will help me define the performance drop off. Anyone out there able to help?

If you're talking about NACA sumberged inlet ducts, then have a look at the NACA website naca.larc.nasa.gov and pick up ACR 5i20. There are a few other reports on the subject: hunt around for "submerged inlet". The NACA website is a undergoing some changes lately, so if you can't find what you're looking for, e-mail me. sparweb AT hotmail DOT com.
