Would it be possible to have someone write a Grip program that will shorten the number of mouse clicks to get to changing the component properties (while in parent assembly)of a component to specify an attribute, currently it seems to be an annoying and tedious process. Program would execute as follows.
1. Click an icon in NX.
2. Left click on component in assembly navigator.
3. After clicking on component, the program brings you to the attributes dialog box, awaiting the attribute to be filled in.
Running NX6.0.4.3 with teamcenter 8.

Are you adding unique attributes to each Component are do you have same ones that needs to be added to all Components?

If you are adding the same attribute to several Components and you are attempting to avoid having to repeat the current procedure over and over again, note that you can select from the Assembly Navigator as many Components as you wish, press MB3, select Properties and assign your attributes and they will be assigned to ALL of the selected Components.

Also, if this something that you need to do a lot, I would recommend that you go back to your modeling templates and added predefined Part attributes, even if they are assigned without any values as placeholders, which will automatically be inherited by the Component as Object attributes when the part are added to the Assembly.

BTW, we are making significant changes to Attributes for the next release of NX and therefore anything you do now may prove to be of little added-value in the very near future.

Another question. Are you looking at adding component part attributes or simply component attributes?

I'm only looking to add component attributes that will show up in the parts list of the main drawing. The attributes would only be noticed in the this drawing. The attribute value cannot be changed in the component itself. Only at the master drawing level.
