is it possible to correlate between GPR output data and soil type, moisture content or any other properties of soil ?

How accurate do you need to be? What are you trying to use the GPR to do?

moisture content, probably: ftp://geol.canterbury.ac.nz/Nobes/Selected%20Readings/Vadose%20Zone%20J%20GPR-H2O.pdf

Not that I have ever seen.

GPR has a hard enough time seeing metal objects more than a few feet down.

You should be able to see clay seams in sand or vice versa at shallow depths, but you will need some local knowledge of the soils to interpret it correctly.

Thanks for the replies and i apologize for late answer .
. I need it at least to show soil stratification if possible , I'm trying to check if it is possible to detect weak soil specially gypsum soil using GPR .

How deep underground do you need to look?
What minimum size gypsum soil "pocket"?

(5-10)m will be good , gypsum content (35-50)% .
thanks for replying .

Talk and coordinate with the GPR operator.
Different GPR antenae can produce different results.
Again, maybe the GPR operator can help in this matter.

Maybe do one quick borehole next to a GPR
alignment in order to calibrate your GPR results.

I quickly tried several different antenae a few years ago on a site
for this purpose. Never got really good results.
I needed to put more time and effort into the process, but time and
budget were limited.

thanks for replying coneboy , could you tell me what frequencies you used , or any other useful info. , it may be difficult foe me to find an expert GPR operator .

Is GPR the only investigation method that you have available at this site? I would recommend, at a minimum, at using a Geoprobe to determine the soil stratigraphy. As you are aware, a better option would be to hire a drilling contractor to perform a boring at the site (now of course, the cost of mobilization alone might deter you from performing one boring).

thank you for posting MichaelFrolov , but i'm required to make a research on the GPR technique specifically .
