3. Link from GT STRUDL to CADS RC Column Designer
3.1. General Information
To take advantage of the design package CADS RC Column Designer
(RCCD), a link to the GTSTRUDL (GTS) analysis package has been
developed. This automatically takes all the necessary information from the
GTSTRUDL Data Base Exchange files (DBX files). Information that is not
part of the analysis (e.g. Concrete grade) can be entered directly in the
RCCD program. The program reads a group of columns and checks whether
they have the same section properties and length. It combines member end
effects of all the columns that are selected and gives a single design which
satisfies all the member end effects. Please refer to the RCCD User Guide
for information on the full functionality of the CADS RCCD.
3.2. Generation of the DBX files from GT STRUDL
The data that is present in GTS can be written out as Data Base Exchange
files. The files that are required to import columns into RCCD are:
Joint Attributes file
Member Attributes file
Member properties file
Member results file.
The following is an example of GTS input commands to generate files that
are necessary for RCCD import.

The following points should be taken into consideration while creating the
DBX files:
1. Default names of the files for Joint Attributes (STDBX02), Member
Attributes (STDBX20) and Member Properties (STDBX22) are used,
so different GTS jobs should be placed in different directories.
2. To obtain a single design for a group of columns, member results of
all the members in that group should be in a single file. In the above
