I am trying to guess the size of a septic tank for a house built in 1968. Any ideas on the volume?

I'd rather err on the conservative side. My purpose here is to guess a safe location for wheeled traffic to pass by. I know where the lid is.

Thanks.

A typical 4 bedroom house would have a septic tank with a volume of 1200 gallons with dimensions of 10' by 7' by 5' deep.

In general a Septic tank shall have minimum width of 750 mm, minimum depth of one metre below water level and a minimum liquid capacity of 1 000 litres. We can have septic tank in different dimensions as well.

If this is critical to know. Many jurisdictions require permitting for a septic system (even in 1968). There may be a permit on file that lists the size of the tank.
