Hi all,
I’m doing fully coupled temperature displacement analysis on a 2D-model. The problem is like that, initially the whole model has 16C temperatures. Then after a heating element is inserted at the center hole which release continues heat of 100C.
Logically, the circle-surrounded area should accept this heat and the nodal temperature of the circle nearest nodes should have higher temperature than the far-one because of the material thermal conduction.
1. When I select 16C for the whole model with Uniform distribution, I couldn’t get any temperature variation in the result.
2. When I apply temperature only on the outer boundary of the model and initiate the heat from the middle, this gives me the temperature variation results. But this this approach seems illogical.

Please find the attached file of my model (6.13 version). I need to solve actually the way described in point-1. Please guide me with your opinion. Your input would be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

I think you mean can't, right?

Yes, "If you create a temperature condition in BC, you can not see any variation" Sorry!

@ aslfd, many thanks for your assistance.
If I use predefined field for initial temperature, I am getting almost same results of temperature contours as in the case of selecting the initial temperature via boundary condition. Secondly, in predefined way, I'm not getting stress and displacement results. Please check this issue.. Thanks

@aslfd, Thanks for your help. I am trying as you instructed, it is working much better than before. Thanks again..
