Any ideas for nonlinear structural analysis for guyed utility poles?

I am trying to analyze wood poles with multiple guy wires and could use some help on the approach…

Thanks in advance

Get Gaylord and Gaylord Structural Engineering Handbook. He has a section on this type of structures.

Good Luck

do you know the ISBN number?

thanks, ck

Okay,

I have an old copy; second edition. Title is “Structural Engineering Handbook” by Edwin H. Gaylord, Jr. and Charles N. Gaylord. It is published by McGraw Hill. Sorry no ISBN number on my copy. Chapter 24 “Towers and Transmission Pole Structures” is the chapter that you will need. Any engineering school library should have it. Also try Barnes and Noble and they may have a newer edition.

This book should become a permanent part of your engineering library.

Good luck

I just bought the current edition - the 4th - off of Amazon. ISBN = 0070237247.

Interestingly enough, the guyed mast example in the 2nd edition is better than the one in the 4th - different people authored the chapter.
