Haas Mini-Mill - Post Builder 10.0.3 1

We are new to the CNC world and have just purchased a Haas Mini-mill. We have created a program thru the NX manufacturing module in NX12, and have tried to post process it with the post builder. We have chosen the Haas_VF controller in the library, but I don't believe this is correct. Is there a controller library file for the Haas Mini-mill? Thanks for any tip or tricks with this.

Should the post builder seamlessly create a usable program?

You may want to try doing an Internet search for the post processor you are looking for.
There are a few places where people share them, possibly the Siemens site.

Post builder is for creating a post processor which is what you need post process NX manufacturing operations. If you are on support with Siemens, they have a library of many post processors to choose from. If you are in a hurry, do not have time to learn post builder, need to create a program right now and you are not on support with Siemens... you might try using one of the included generic posts to create your nc files such as the mill3ax_turbo post. It will create, for the most part, a generic nc file that is basically compatible with Haas and older Fanuc controls.

Select your Program group you want to post (or individual operations)
Select Post Process
In the top of the Postprocess dialog select MILL_3_AXIS_TURBO
Browse for an Output File
Leave the bottom section as is unless you need it.
Select OK or Apply.

FYI List Output will disply a copy of the posted NC file but that is not the actual NC file. Most people edit the NC with a stand-alone editor but you can edit the List Output and do a Save-As.

If your team is new to NX there are online docs you can invoke with the F1 key. It is context help so it will display what you are working with at the time. After it pops up in your browser be sure to also look at the pane on the far right for related content and quite often there are how-to's available as well.

Also, there is a nice collection of basic manufacturing tutorials inside of NX. When you are in manufacturing look in the upper right and click on the tutorials button and the dialog should pop up on your left side.

There are a number of Tech Tip videos on the Siemens site although they're a bit low in number of late since they totally revamped the site and full library isn't available yet. However many of them are on YouTube.

Once you start getting a bit of experience then I recommend customizing your NX environment. Hopefully all tech tip videos will be available again soon. There is so much you can do with NX and so much speed to be gained but you really need to customize a number of things to attain it.
