Friends,

Is there any way to enter user defined over all U-value in HAP? In our project, Overall U-value is already defined in architectural specification.

Thanks

Yes.

You still have to give the wall or roof a thickness, density, and of course the R-value that is the inverse of U-value. Absorptivity and color are also needed. You also must allow HAP to keep the outside and inside air films.

I assume you are talking about walls and roofs. Windows and doors have an actual entry field for overall U-value, but you still have to define solar heat gain coefficient.

Define a new (wall or roof), name it appropriately.

Choose the first default layer beneath inside air surface in the drop down menu, click it once to highlight it, and type a new layer name (Overall U Wall or something).

Fill in all four columns to the right. Enter absorptivity and color at the top.

Click each of the other layers to highlight them one at a time, and punch Delete on your keyboard to get rid of them.

When you're left with only our Overall U Wall layer and the air films, click OK.

Examples attached.

Best to you,

Goober Dave

I forgot to mention -- if your copy of HAP is legitimate (licensed), an e-mail to HAP tech support usually gets answered within a couple of hours, but sometimes a little longer. Those guys are good, too.

Best to you,
