Hardness Testing 1

A customer has ask us to measure the hardness of some machining chips- these chips are relatively small 0.375 wide by 0.040 or less thick. I don't see getting this done on my Rockwell hardness tester but any thoughts about how to do it either on my tester or with an out side lab would be appreciated.

Note- we are a pretty good chemical lab but have little or no expertise in metals unless they are in solution.

You will need to use a microhardness tester and samples of the chips will need to be mounted in plastic media, preferably a room temp cure epoxy, polyester or acrylic . You will need to find a metallurgical lab with microhardness testing capability.
