Hi, everyone

Anyone guy telll me the minimum hardness value for welded joint of P355 NL1 EN material?
Relevant standard(EEMUA 190) only shows maximum hardness value. This is our client requirement.

As I know, all hardness value is limited to maximum value not minimum.

Thanks

Where is the minimum hardness requirement coming from? Maybe it is referring to the minimum impact energy value?

Thanks for answer.

Requirement for minimum allowable hardness value is the comment from our client.
As mentioned in original thread, reference code just mentions maximum allowable hardness value (248 HV 10).

Client wants to know minimum hardness value on welds(incl. HAZ & base metal) after PWHT.

Thanks

Most Codes and Standards deal with maximum hardness value to avoid loss of ductility unless the material bulk properties were enhanced by quench and temper heat treatment. For these materials, minimum as well as maximum hardness are important to ensure correct mechanical properties.

Metengr, thank you for answer.

As you mentioned, minimum value as well maximum is also important to ensure mechanical properties don't lower. But, we can't find how much of hardness value is acceptable as minimum in any standard and code application.

For said material, our client has required specific minimum allowable hardness value after pwht
Thus, I hope any guy can tell me applicable reference or specific value that based on reference.

The standard may simply be the original material specification minimum mechanical tensile properties. In this case, a minimum hardness value can be obtained and converted to an approximate tensile strength by the client.

If you not found in relevent standards and specifications, you can take the minimum and maximum values from relevent PQR.
