I need to use a CalComp Drawing Board VI for digitizing large full scale drawings. I have it hooked up but can't figure out how to get the origin to map to the sketch origin of solidworks. Right now it is using the screen origin which is in the lower left corner of the monitor. Any Thoughts?

Thanks for any help that can be given,
Matt

I have no knowledge about the digitizer, but can you not just move the sketch after it is created?

Out of curiosity, what is the purpose of digitizing the drawing? (For archive, or 1st step toward creating 3D model, or ???)

I could move the sketch after if that was the only problem. what happens if you digitize near the origin you will hit the start menu or any other menu for that matter depending where you happen to be on the digitizer and the zoom level of the sketch.

The reason for digitizing is so that we can manufacture the parts. There is now dimensions on them. You are expected to use them as sort of as templates. Its old aircraft stuff.

Thanks,
Matt

Matt (or anyone else), how did you get your CalComp digitizer to communicate with SolidWorks?

I didn't get it to communicate directly. We have used it though with some cheap little software that was included. It was from the Logic Group and output a DXF file. I am not conviced that it can't be done just don't have the time to figure it out. Please let me know if You do. I do like the digitizer though. We use it for reproducing full size drawings.

I am able to get the CalComp tablet to work with Solidworks through the software called TabletWorks, but I am unable to figure out how to calibrate or ensure that points made are correct. I use it for converting PCM's into digital files.

I know this is a long time later but did you ever figure this out? back trying it agian. I have got it to work like you but no calibration.
