With the failing economy, has SW revisited their high subscription rates yet?

Considering the fact that renewal price has not gone up in years I would doubt that they would actually lower the price. However, they may off some sort of "deal" as in renew by some date and get free financing on the renewal.

High subscription rates? How does SW compare to the other softwares out there? Are they really higher than anyone else in the same market? Just curious for some actual comparison data. Actual true data. For X dollars, here is what you get from company Y.

They now have a deal where you can rent a licence by the month.

Actually the subscription cost for Solidworks is pretty low compared with UG, Pro-E and I-DEAS. But it depends on how you look at it. If you look at ratio of the cost of software relative to the cost of subscription it's high compared with UG, Pro-E and I-DEAS. But if you look at the dollar amount relative to the amount of functionality then in my mind its seems like a good value. But you also have to look at what you get for you money. UG (Siemens) is by far hands down the best technical support I have ever had to work with, but its also much more expensive too. Not that support through my SW VAR is bad. Pro-E is the worst, difficult to understand most of the time because some of it is done over seas.
