HDD-Directional Boring Conduit

Please advice on what type of Conduit to utilize for directional boring conduit to install electric distribution systems? I am currently considering to utilize HDPE Schedule 40 and 80 for containing medium voltage cables for underground distribution cables. Thank you in advance

There are many sizes of primary distribution cables which will be installed in the HDPE conduits. They range from 1/0 AL to 1000 Kcmil Al TRXLPE type insulation. What I am after is to get feedback on the type of conduit which should be used for the directional boring part. I indicated that HDPE schedule 40 or 80 appears to be the appropriate type of conduit for directional boring. To clarify my question is HDPE Schedule 40 or 80 the proper type of conduit that can handle the mechanical stress when it is being driven in the ground by means of directional boring. The size of the HDPE conduits for a given set of cables will be selected according to the NEC. The type of the conduit I am not 100 percent sure if it is the correct one? Please advice.

Yes, HDPE is typically what is used in DD installations.

My intent is to use HDPE SDR 11 Schedule 40 or 80. However, I been told that such animal doesn't exit. Does any one know if I can obtain HDPE SDR 11 schedule 40 UL listed? By the way, thank you all for your responses.

Plastic pipe is either sized by SDR (I think it stands for Standard Diameter Ratio) or schedule (like 40 or 80) with the SDR being more common. So if you're asking for Schedule 40 SDR 11, they conflict with each other.

In addition to what JedClampett posted, IL does not list SDR 11 piping. UL probably only lists electrical conduit.

I see where I am getting confused with my terminology. In other words, I should be asking for HDPE Schedule 40 0r 80 UL listed since it is going to be utilized for power cables.
