HDLC and SDLC Comparison

In what areas of structure is the HDLC(High Level Data-Link Control)protocol not compatible with SDLC (Synchronous Data Link Control) protocol ? Is there any difference in the Information field (frame format) size of the two? i Would be grateful for pointer(s) to materials on this comparison.
