HDPE Shear Strength

I am working on a design for a telescoping manhole system that relies on shear failure of High Density Polyethylene pins. Can anyone tell me what the shear strength of HDPE is, or where I can find this information?

I can not find any data on shear strength.
I also called my Tech Rep and they had no data either.

My suggestion is that you get a piece of HDPE rod and design your own experiment. In that respect, you could validate your design.

The Shear strength number is a short term property. As you know, these properties are time, temperature and load dependent. You may want to apply a conservative approach to avoid a creep failure.

I'm pro HDPE (we manufacturer HDPE pipe and fittings) but why HDPE for the pins?

note that shear strength is influenced by orientation. transverse to orientation will have higher shear strength.
