Heat exchanger book or software recommendations - operation away from nominal point 2

Hello,
I wonder if someone could advise on a good book for heat exchanger design? I'm responsible for a system where that requires several heat exchangers. We know that these are liekly to be operating at several different but steady operating points. We're going to have to pick the best compromise nominal operating point but be able to calculate how the system will perform at the other operating points. We know which one of the operating points we require to be the most efficient but are still interesting in the other cases.
Can anyone recommend a good book on the subject? Or software?

For shell and tube HX, try "Process Heat Transfer" by DQ Kern. Its no longer in print, so you may have to look for a used text. These same expressions can be used to rate given exchangers for other operating cases.
A less laborious way about this would be to use HX simulation software. Pro II - from Simsci can do this for you, and I suspect so can Aspentech Hysis. Else there are many specialist HX only simulation software - HTRI is one well known choice. All of these cost a bomb to lease short term.

To me you should hire a third party ,a contractor or an engineering company to perform the task for you . You will save time and you will get a report.

Thank you George and Pierre, I'll follow up on your recommendations. Also on Pierre's point about using a sub-contractor, we're planning to do this later but want to do some in house exploration first so that we're a more informed customer.

Which is your exchangers type?
