Heat Exchanger Type by TEMA

Could you tell me what are the criteria to define of Type of Heat Exchanger agree with Figure N-1.2 of TEMA, when I start its design ?
Are mechanical criateria or are process/chemistry decriteria?

TEMA would not care what type of service the Hx was going into, the arrangement determines the type irrespective. You have to pick the best arrangement for your process based on what your process needs.
