Hello:

I'm checking the heat load of a lube oil system installed on a BB3 pipeline station. Does anyone know how I can determine how much heat needs to be dissipated for the subject-line type of pump?

Thanks for your help.

My post is not 100% accurate: This pump uses both ball, and sleeve bearings. I apologize for any confusion.

Thanks,
Theron

You don't mention the size of the pump,

However for a sleeve/ball bearing arrangement, average pipeline BB3, I'd allow for 30000 BTU (8.8 KW) of cooling.

If you can provide the speed/shaft size then I can be more specific.

GaTechTheron,
FREE CALCULATION OF HEATS IS MADE BY SKF IN WEB SITE AND PUBLISHED IN FAG HANDBOOK.
THE PROBLEM IS THAT YOU HAVE TO KNOW BEARING LOADS.
TO CALCULATE BEARING LOADS DUE TO CENTRIFUGAL PUMP OPERATION YOU WILL GO TO ANSI/HI 1.3-2009 STANDARD.
I HOPE IT HELPS
