There are 2 structures A & B.
Dimensions of A 2mx2mx2m
Dimensions of B 30mx2mx10m

Thermo couplers were used in record peak temperatures in the concrete core. The placement concrete temp is same in both the pours and ambient temp is constant also. Please choose the right answer,

a. The peak temp in core will be same in both structures
b. A will have higher peak temp
c. B will have higher peak temp
d. None of the above (explain why)

Please share the reasons for the answers choosen.

Thanks in advance

Generally, I would expect the pour with the larger volume to generate more heat (and therefore higher temperatures) than the smaller pour. However, both pours have the same minimum dimension of 2m. The heat will escape via the shortest route (i.e. along the 2m section)so heat will escape at the same rate resulting in the same peak temperature.

So, answer is A......peak temp will be the same in both structures. (Side note, if I had to pick one or the other, I would choose structure B as having a slightly higher peak temp owing to the larger volume).
