Looking for some ideas on Heavy Timber Post Bases.....
I'm just not happy with the prefabricated options, or the options we have come up with.

We produced a similar post base as this with 4 bolts into the column....
It was large, clunky, took forever to install and basically not very builder friendly, was a
pain to fabricate and was a distaster to then install.

Looking for something simple, sleek, robust enough for around 3 kips of wind uplift.
Built out of 1/4 inch or 3/8 inch plate. Sort of a mountain or ranch style.

Let me know what you guys have used and liked. Thank you.

I typically do base plate with 4 anchor bolts, then HSS4x4x1/4" to certain height, cap plate that accept the heavy timber. I make the cap plate smaller than the timber cross section. You either screw it to bottom of the timber, or you add vertical knife plate and bolts from the side. By using the HSS, you can raise the bottom of timber to above the slab or stone veneer.

Timberlinx connectors are installation friendly and adaptable to different types of base configurations. Can be welded to a plate or screwed directly onto a threaded rod anchor. Just used these successfully on a large timber project.

I've done what DS described in a higher end home recently. Knife plate type details are pretty common for heavy timber and fancy homes.
