I am having to recreate two fairly simple cross sections of a river channel from old HEC-2 input card printouts and I am having a devil of a time interpreting the data I was given by the local FEMA representative. I have the HEC-2 manual but nothing looks like the data that I was given.

Please, does anybody have any experience interpreting these things?

What exactly are you needing help with?

Are you trying to reproduce in HECRAS?

Yes, I'm trying to translate it into HEC-RAS or even digital HEC-2. Ironically, almost the entire river corridor has been restudied within the last ten years beginning two sections above my study area. In that process the old HEC-2 output files were converted to a digital for that I can import into HEC-RAS.

For the XSECs you still need you can scan the printed output as a text file then edit it in notepad to acheive the correct formating. Once this is complete rename the text file to XXX.dat and it can be imported into HECRAS. The first portion of the output (printed, I presume) file repeats the input.

If you need clarification for a specific card please ask specifically about the card.

After a little more digging it appears that what FEMA gave me was an old USGS E431 program input card file in .pdf format. I haven't a clue what that is or how to interpret it. Do you know anything about those?

No I don't, sorry. Have you searched the USGS website or contacted your local USGS office? That is how I would proceed. If it contains XSECs and Manning's coefficients then you can hand code them. Maybe someone else in this forum can help.

The USGS E431 program is a predecessor to WSPRO. I'd love to find someone who could help me decipher those input files for a couple of cross sections.
