It is popular in Atlanta for residential footings. We use a 3/4" swing bit brace bit welded to a rod on one end and a coupling nut on the other and a 150 "# torque wrench. Bearing is 50 x reading in PSF.

The last ASTM data I've found on this is from 1988. Does anyone know if more recent ASTM tests have been performed with the HPTs and can point me to that link? Or of any other independent tests that have been conducted to compare and validate the HPTs use to the SPT and CPT methods?
