Hello all not been in a wile hope everyone is doing okay, hoping that someone can help me with a question if you have Weld pipe to plate will that cover you in plate to plate if yes or no please explain the reason for this

If I remember correctly 24" diameter pipe is considered plate,
according to AWS D1.1.

Hi weldstan it will be a PQR I should have asked the question a bit better to be honest if I was to use a 30mm die bar to a 30mm plate would that also qualify for a plate to plate joint I know that if you use 30mm thick it will take you from 5mm and anything grater according to 15614-1

30 mm thick bar has a "wall thickness" of 15 mm, giving a range from 3 to 30 mm from pipes dia 15 mm to infinity (= plates).

Kingnero thanks, can you explain why pipe dia 15mm to infinity =plates please, I know that a butt Weld in plate covers in pipe over 500mm or 150 mm rotation position if you can explain my question that would be great
