Hello Colleagues, I am participating in a project in which in my technical specifications I Indicate that I will use a A53GRB pipe, but I have a supplier that offers me API 5L GRB indicating that they have the same characteristics, do you think I have problems with that?.....I have reviewed their strength and composition of both materials and are similars.

I will use that pipe for fire systems in a refinery, and I need your experiences to make the best decision

API 5LB and A53 B are often dual specified by manufacturers. There is no real problem using either. I would be wondering about your supplier and where the 5LB was manufactured as to its quality.

IMO, the pipes A53 Gr.B and API 5L Gr.B are equivalent from the qualified Manufacturer.
Also, you may see the pipe has dual stamps as A53-B/A106-B, or triple stamps as A53-B/A106-B/5L-B.

Dear JR 166,

In addition to the above posts, also ensure if the piping on offer are seamless or welded and be sure about the schedule.

Regards.
