I have two Air compressors of unknown material built in 1973 and 1997.
Trying to determine stress values for T-min calculations. Assuming Sa283C per API 510 but do not have access to the older code tables. Anyone provide this information?

Thanks

Can you please be a little more specific in what information you are seeking.

I am looking for what the stress values of SA 283C would've been in 1973 and in 1997. I do not have access to the ASME Sec VIII Div 2 material property tables for those years. 450 deg.

Do you mean ASME Section VIII, Division 2, or do you mean ASME Section II, Part D?

I'm not sure that I would assume that your unknown vessel was fabricated to Division 2...

ASME Section II Part D

The vessel construction code is not unknown. It has a name plate. We just do not have the U-1 form on hand which calls out the exact material. All I need is the Stress values per part D.

Thanks

So am I still not making since? Do I need to ask this question in another forum? Just looking for stress values for older code tables. Anyone direct me to the right group?

You could contact the National Board for out of date re-prints.

Out-of-Print ASME Editions

The National Board has a library service designed to assist organizations that use out-of-print editions and addenda of the ASME BPV Code. By agreement with ASME, copies of out-of-print editions of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code are now available from the National Board library.
Of special interest to the inspector is the ability to advise an owner or repair organization on the source for the correct code edition and paragraph of the code of construction of the unit being repaired or altered.
The charge for the first copied page is $27. Each page thereafter will be an additional $1.50. Pricing is based on staff research time. An entire copy of ASME BPV Code Section I, Power Boilers, 1971 Edition is available for $335 plus shipping, and ASME BPV Code Section III, 1952 Steam Locomotives, is available for $90 plus shipping.
To order an out-of-print copy of an ASME BPV Code edition or addendum:
1. Phone, Fax, or email the National Board technical staff with the request. The phone number is 614.888.8320, and the fax number is 614.431.3208. Email is information@nationalboard.org.
2. A staff member will review the edition and addenda requested for the applicable pages. Once the material is found, he or she will contact the individual to confirm content and number of pages to be copied.

Are you sure you don't mean SA-285-C? SA-283-C plate is typically used for things like structural steel components and aboveground storage tanks.

The allowable stress for temperatures between -20 °F to 650 °F up to 1998 for SA-283 Gr. C and SA-285 Gr. C was 13.8 ksi.
