Dear All

I need the part as shown in the attached pic. Can somebody guide me how this part can be produced?
Is it possible by machining? the problem is the radius on both faces on ID, where no bur is acceptable.
Or can this be done by some kind of stamping/die press process?
I need the hardness on finished part around 50-55.What should be the material? It is acceptable if the part is heat treated for this.

Please help.

Thanks.

I've seen many eyelets like you show, and they have always been ceramic, never metal. The key property is low-load abrasion resistance and metal cannot come close to ceramic.

Those could be cold formed using spheroidized steel like 52100. Then, harden and temper after forming. There may need to be machining depending on tolerances and the actual shape you need for the groove.

How many do you need?
To what accuracy of each part?
When do you need them?
Built locally (under your control, or in a remote nation?)

These would be easily turned on sub-spindle equipped swiss lathes, heat treated, and mass finished. There are many companies specializing in this very type of part. Search "swiss turned parts" or "medical screw machine parts" or something similar. The only concern is what kind of tolerances must be held, given that they will undergo heat treatment.

It is better to have enough ideas for some of them to be wrong, than to be always right by having no ideas at all.

Thanks all for your valuable inputs.

Can you arrange this part or guide me to some supplier (preferably Asia for cost reasons)?

1. I would need lot size of 25,000 pcs.
2. Attached file with more information on tolerances
3. Needed as soon as possible, depends how long it takes to produce.
4. I would first need samples, if ok, then only cost matters ;-)

The tolerances likely will require final machining after heat treatment to eliminate distortion.

Well, if so, then the same press fit that "squishes" out the deflections can do most of the forming.

Hello,

The requests of tolerances and material, no problem for our company.
